How exactly do they decide which one we're in? And how many are there? Just wondering...

I'm not sure if you mean the actual LGM (leadership group meetings, which are actually your smallest), or MoCo meetings (which are usually larger)...in regards to either, there is no method to the madness. It doesn't seem to follow any kind of major pattern. Infact I was almost the second oldest in both groups and in my MoCo, the only one from Texas. My LGM was about 15 people, and my MoCo was 20/25. There's also some times where you may pair up with other MoCo groups to do part of your mock congress.
Okay so its pretty much you walk in and then you kind of just end up being in any random LGM ( that's the one I meant) and then you're done, or do they just randomly assign people? I still a little confused, sorry lol

You walk in and you're randomly assigned (it's already decided what group you're in before you arrive though, and you cannot change groups). You will have (atleast in most cases) one LGM meeting per day. However, you will never actually change LGMs, though you may work together. Although I've only done a summer NYLC, so I imagine fall/winter/spring NYLC has its differences.

I was a fall attendee and in our LGM we had about 25 people and we didn't have MoCo or atleast we might have and i was just calling it something else. In all of our LGM's we met about 2-3 times a day depending on what we were doing that day. We stayed up until 11 most nights with them but security check is usually always at 11.
They do randomly put you in groups but don't worry because those people will become your best friends for the week.It is so fun.
