Some packing advise... Make sure that you have something for the rain. I recomend a tiny umbrella since you never know when it's just gonna start randomly raining. Also, make sure that your shoes are really comfortable. You will be walking a lot. Take chargers for your camera, cell phone, etc. & use them each night(even if you don't think you need to). You do not want to be at, for example The White House and have your battery die! Mainly, although it is great to be safe instead of sorry, pack lightly.

oh, and in the summer you NEED sunscreen, sun glasses and a visor(if allowed). it's best not to wear perfumeDON'T WEAR PERFUME!!! Deoderant=YES! Skirts following dress code are also a plus on hott,& humid summer days. Cool
Hope this helps,

Someone once told me that if you are hot and sweat while wearing perfume that it makes you smell worse and deoderant is always better... ? I have no idea. I love light perfumes.

Actually I wore no sunscreen, and I was fine. But, if you have fair skin, you may want to pack some. And I wore Bath & Body Works Body Splash one day, and it was so hot that I think I was sweating Body Splash!! So like Blossom said, don"t wear Body Splash or perfume. Or at least on hot, summer days.

If by casual jackets you mean sweat jackets I would say no. Almost everyone at my conference wore nice sweaters and professional looking coats.

Earlier in this discution i heard people talking about perfume.....DONT WHERE IT! OR BRING IT! The reason i say that is my sister my mom and i in my family cant stand the smell of perfume (it makes our heads hurt), if i come home with all my clothes smelling like perfume because some girl decided to spray the 4 h center with perfume it will hurt my head the whole trip there. Also it dosent smell that good and i know some of you dissagree with me. Esspeccialy Hollister they they have a smell to strong. PS:Esential oils smell really good.

Tip:Stop putting so much on you. Please Thankyou

Famous Footwear also has some good shoes apparently. I've never been there but some people I know tell me. You can find a lot of relaxed professional clothing at any department store. The definition for relaxed professional is basically something professional but not over the top.

For girls I suggest:

Skirts, khakis, slacks or some dressy pants
Blouses, polo shirts
Flats (Black preferable), Mary Janes

For Boys:

Khakis, slacks
Polo shirts (Almost everyone wore polos)
Some kind of comfy shoe

I went in summer but if you go during a colder time you can always throw a nice sweater on top.

You will want to talk with your room mates about this if you find it such a problem as we have suggested they bring Febreze to spray in the rooms as some of them smell funny. Some girls will wear perfume. It's something you can't control but if it is one of your room mates be civil and ask nicely for her to lighten up. Smile You want to be on good terms with your roomies.

Payless has great flats and socks for flats that don't show when you wear them.

I recommend wearing low socks too... it prevents big blisters.

My socks didn't go up high enough in the back, so I got blisters there, but the blister band-aids helped A LOT!!

If anyone has questions, feel free to ask or PM me!

Does bug spray smell bad? I'm going to bring perfume if it does; don't worry Jodie, I checked your profile and we're not going to the same session.

Mickee, you can actually you can get bug spray that doesn't smell bad. You only need bug spray at Harpers Ferry, though.

Off! has some good spray that is almost invisible. You can get that at a drug store or supermarket. I didn't wear socks and I didn't get blisters. Just make sure to break in your shoes before you go. I wore flats from Guess by Marciano. They're really comfy and they had a good sole. Bring some sole insoles, they're really helpful.

Dr.Schols for Her is amazing. They're skinny enough to fit into heels and they're so comfy! Especially if your feet get painful fast. Mine don't though.

Im okay if someone puts a little dab on them but i guess some girls dont relize they are putting so much on, and i just wish they would think about how it can effect other people before they put it on. So whoever is reading this and going to bring perfume please dont put so much on, if you do and now you dont the world would be a better place.

PS: That would be cool if they made a perfume that smelled like Yankee candles...............YuM
