Wait, there were hairdryers?! Ehmagod! I was like freezing to death at night because my hair was wet and my roomies liked a cold room! You don't really get a lot of freetime. They have this rule that if you're 5 minutes early to LFG then your late so you always have to be there like 10-15 minutes early so you rush from one place to another because the lines for everything are so long.

Any questions, feel free to PM me!

Hi shereen. i have a lot of questions and i was wondering if u could help me with them.
1. how many roomates do u have? 2. i went to nysp last year and at nysp you always have to be with your FA is it the same for JrNYLC? 3. what happens if u get lost? 4. what do the "teachers" do if u are late? 4. what r the rooms like? 5. how was the program overall? what were some of the highlights? 5. what do u do at the sleepover? 6. is there really a seperate building for boys? 7. how is the food?

THANKS BYE!!!!!!!!!!!

answers are different for each group for me...

1. i had 3 roommates plus me so a total of 4 people

2.you are always with your FA on tours and during meetings

3. you are wearing your name card at all times on the back there are emergency phone numbers to call if you are lost.

4. i was late to the first meeting and the FA just said don't do it again... i learned my lesson! you need to be in your meeting room at least 5 mins before the meetings start

5. the rooms have two bunks. and one bathroom. there is quite a bit of closet space and a desk. there is also a phone you can use in the room. also a tv!

6. the whole program was AMAZING!!!! its hard to pick out highlights as it was all sooo fun!

7. at the sleepover you can walk around the museum and everything is hands on! then you go see "shackleton" in Imax. you have to be in your sleeping bags by 11. before the sleepover you go to dinner at hard rock cafe!

8. the boys are in other buildings and on seperate floors from all of the girls

9. there is a big variety of food at the 4H center. a salad bar, waffle makers, lots of cereal, ice cream, buffet line (hot food) toasters for bagels and toast. all sorts of milk and other drinks. i think there is even a slushee machiene

SORRY if my numbering is off from your questions. Smile

Hey, sorry I haven't been on.

Okay:

1. For the girls, most of the time it was 4 to a room. For the boys it was 3 to a room.
2.Yes, you follow your FA everywhere and they're the ones telling you about everything and stuff like that so you have to follow them.
3. If your lost, they tell you to go to the next place where your going to be and you'll meet your LFG there or you can go back to the buses and one of the supervisors will take you back to your group. You won't get lost though.
4. If your late once, it's fine and they tell you to keep track of time better. If your late more than once they probably will pull you aside and talk to you about it. I wasn't late so I wouldn't know.
5. The rooms are okay. They're small and the bathroom is tiny. There were 2 bunk beds in my room, a table with 2 chairs, a TV, a nightstand and a closet.
6. The program was AMAZING! It was literally the best time of my life! I didn't want to go home. You meet so many new people and you feel so independent and everything! I really liked the Maryland Science Center. I didn't like the Hardrock. The walking tour of capitol hill was great too.
7. Ummm... I'm not sure. But the rooms were done alphabetically and 4H is HUGE so I got lost a lot. The basment and 1st floor were for girls and the 2nd and 3rd floor were for boys. I'm not sure if there was a seperate building or not.
8. It takes forever to get food! The line was always out of the building. By the time you actually get your food and sit down you only have like 10 minutes to eat. The food wasn't good. They had the same food everyday. I basically starved.

Anymore questions, feel free to PM me!

my mom noticed i lost weight after i came home... i must not have been eating as much... for breakfast i recommend not waiting in line for the food... not worth it... you can get little boxes of your favorite cereal and add some milk in a bowl.. i did that and found i had much more time to eat. you can also get toast and make your own waffles and there usually isn't a line for that.

Julianna Marie is right but even that wasn't really good. The pancakes were horrible and everything. When I got home I asked my parents to take me to a restaurant and I just stuffed spoon after spoon into my mouth. Be sure to bring snacks! They have vending machines but some of them don't work and most of them only take coins which is really bad.

Also, they give you some snacks during breaks and everything. Save them so you can snack later. Also load up on food from the vending machine and chip in to buy food with your roomates then share it. But they only have candy and chips at the vending machines so if you want anything else bring it with you.

it really depends on how many souvenirs you want to buy. you should always have at least $20 dollars on you just in case and $20 for when you are at the airport. Most people brought $150-$200 for personal stuff... i recommend taking half in cash and the other half on a prepaid card.

well i always bring a large tote to carry around all the materials with me and my phone and ipod stuff like that it really helps so that way i don't lose anything!!!

2) WAKING UP IN the morning really depends on the day. i would always wake up like a hour before we are supposed to down for breakfast but that what i am used to doing for school so it all depends on you i think the breakfast times range from 6-8 in the morning but you'll see when you get ur schedule

I woke up an hour before, and that worked out great. Just DO NOT DO NOT DO NOT get down there early. Not even if the other scholars do. If that happens, just get a bagel and some fruit; breakfast is only 30 minutes. That's what I did. And if you're running late, just tell an FA; they'll page your FA. They don't want you to miss breakfast.

I definitely recommend a bag, preferably a backpack or shoulder bag.

The food is pretty good; it's edible Wink I think you'll live.

you should get a backpack from your FA's. Its a black one that says Jr. NYLC. I used that to carry around the book you need to bring and some pens. but i also had a small purse for personal things like cell phone, money, lip gloss, ect..

you will have to get up the earliest on the philly day as they like to get going early. you really will want to get up depending on when you will shower and how long getting dressed and hair will take!
