Hi guys, thanks for all your help. On the day you leave will lacey be able to pack her sleeping bag back in her big suitcase before she goes to the airport? I'm guessing the bags will be on the bus.

No problem! Yes, Lacey will have time to pack everything in her big suitcase, She can do it before she goes to breakfast or she can keep it with her on the bus and when she gets to the airport she can find her luggage, put her sleeping bag in her suitcase while waiting to check-in. That's what I did. Yes, your child will put her suitcase in a specific spot and it will be loaded onto the bus. She'll get her suitcase when she arrives at the airport. Make sure the suitcase is easy to identify because there are tons of suitcases there! Anymore questions, feel free to ask me or PM me!

As sheeren said your child will have time to put her sleeping bag in her suitcase.Or if she doesnt have room she can take it on a carry on. I would recremend packing the smallest sleeping bag you can find. But dont send an expensive one because they do get lost.I forgot mine and it was a really expensive one.
How dressy do they need to plan to be? Will she need to take a dress for anything? I know she will need khakis and casual wear but I'm just curious about how dressy she needs to be for the professional wear. Thanks!

she wont NEED a dress but it couldnt hurt to have one...dress pants and a blouse are acceptable as is a skirt and a blouse...it doesnt have to be a dress

My daughter is attending April 10-15. What is the Family Hospitality that I see on the schedules? Will I be able to help her settle into her room when she gets there or is she on her own for that? Should she bring a notebook/folder or will this be provided? And, approximately how much "spending" money should she have with her?
Thanks! Stacy

Yes, you can walk her up to her room and help her get settled. She should probably bring a pen with her because the one provided is the only one you get. What I brought for money was $100 in cash and $100 in a prepaid card but I didn't need the much at all. Hope that this helps!
You are more than welcome to help her get settled in. Other than bringing up the bags there isn't much to do in the rooms. Your daughter will want to be down in the meeting rooms where she can mingle and meet some friends before all of the scholars from the airport arrive.
As for the notebook, I would encourage her to bring a small journal as I did just to write down my thoughts from the day and the overall trip from my point of view at that age. I throughly enjoy reading back on those few pages and they bring back so many memories. A workbook for all student will be provided, and as Kate said, I would recommend bringing a few extra pens.
For the money, I also brought close to $200 but didn't even come close to spending it all. The only thing that your daughter will need to by is items from the gift store and/or trinkets from they day trips.
Please don't hesitate to ask any other questions! And if your daughter has an interest in speaking to some great alumni here on the boards we would love to have her create her own account or log in on yours! Lots of attendees have had some great questions answered here and have found themselves much less nervous as they head off to a week of fun at Jr.NYLC!
Thanks for the answers! She already has her own account and has posted (and started out in the wrong places).... We are still working out the fine tuned details of her clothes so as we get closer, I may have more questions. Thanks again. Stacy

Kate said earlier to just bring one extra pen but you will need like more than 5 considering how many pens get lost and if people borrow yours they might not give them back or forget

Your faculty advisor will give you a pen at the beginning of the conference. Everybody in my group had no trouble with keeping up with theirs. If somebody did lose one, your FA would give you a new one, and if they didn't have any, there is a gift shop you could but it from. Either way, I think bringing one or two extra will work.
