I'm going to Washington this summer with the JrNYLC and I'm kind of nervous. I don't know what to expect. It's not that I'm going to be away from my family, ( i was just away from them for 10 days because i was in florida ) I'm just afriad that i won't know anybody. I know most of you have gone before so if you can, please post some advice. questions i have..... can we wear polos? should i bring anything extra that you think i should bring, shoes, camera, cell, ect.?

Well, I am going this summer too. I just posted on the dates that I was going and waited until someone replied. I know that everything will be new, but I think if I can make a friend or two before I go. Plus I am pretty sure more people feel the same way.

I'm going this summer too. I was wondering if anyone knew how to get like the hearts and music notes and like the little decals in your signature... They're really cool!

What you do is press alt and and number key but it has to be a number from the squre box one thats on the right. so for example: Alt+3+Alt= the heart.

Your Welcome! To do the music notes you do: Alt+1+4+Alt. (Press 1 and 4 at the same time.) I have no clue what kinda shoes im bringing. Some flats i know for sure. Im going June 20-25. When are you going?

I have one, what are Sperry's and what kind of shoes should we bring? Should we wear dresses?

I have one too. Is it confusing/hectic/stressful when youre at the airport? And does the staff walk you right up to youre gate when your going back home. Like do they walk through everything (security, the gates, etc.) with you? (sorry so long)

Sperry's are a kind of shoes. You know, I think anything would be comfortable. I wore vans the whole time with no problems. Even with my skirts, I wore these kind of sneaker-flats. Just whatever you think would be comfortable. No flip-flops or flats at all. And I don't think dresses are necessary if you think it's too fancy. A simple skirt (not denim) and shirt would be fine.

The airport is not stressful at all. If you have a layover, an airport staff will meet you at your gate and direct you to your next gate. When you arrive in Maryland, a JrNYLC staff member will meet you directly at the exit of your gate and it's all amazing-ness from there!

Sorry to correct you claire but youcan wear flats.There acualy recomended.They just dont want flip-flops or heels,it should be somehing you can walk confortably in.But you may bring any kind of shoes for when your at the hotel.

Dresses are also toally fine,how ever not mandatory.

Haha, oops. By that I meant that you will probably get super-bad blisters on your heels from flats.

I wore flats most of the time and I didnt get any blisters.You wont't get blisters unlesss your shoes are brand bew.If you get new shoes be sure to break them in before the conference.Did I have fun?It was one of The most memorable experience in my life!

You might beable to get away with it but they would prefere to have a little dressier shoes.
