What is the whole roommate deal? Can you request roommates ahead of time or are they assigned to you? Do most people get along with their roommates? And is this really a good experience? Is it really as good as they make it sound? Please answer!

ummm. Well, I didn't get to choose my roommate but I'm not sure if its not possible to request them. But, personally, I think it enhances the conference if you get a roommate assigned to you. It gives you one more friend! My roomate was awesome! Most people love their roommates! I've only met like 3 people on here who had bad roommates. lol. And this is the most amazing leadership thing I've ever been to. You meet so many new people and build relationships that you keep up for years and years. It's everything they say and more.

You Dont get to choose your roomate, they are assigned to you randomly. Its a great way to meet new people! you only see your roommate for maybe an hour most of the time your busy!

Okay. Depending on where you're staying you will have one to two roomates. These people will most likely be in your LFG or Leadership Focus Group

You can not request a roommate ahead of time. Your roommate is randomly assigned to you by your FA or Faculty Advisor.

Most people do large in part to the fact that you maybe spend one hour of waking time alone with them. They will be in your LFG but they can range in size from 15-25 people, so you don't really get one-on-one time

This was one of the best experiences of my life, however I will say this: If you are not into leadership or into figuring out how to be a better leader, this is not for you. This conference is very skills oriented while conferences like JrNYLC and NYLC are more history oriented. However, if you're like me, you will enjoy this conference, and if you don't do not let it effect your view of CYLC. All the conferences are very very different and the entirety of them all can not be reflected upon by one conference.
