Hey guys..

I was wondering if anybody is not going for the 14-25 June trip because of the H1N1 virus thing?

My school is canceling all June school trips for the students, and there's pretty serious quarantine procedures for the return.

Looks like I might not be able to go after all.. Grrr

Hi. Down here they aren't making a big deal out of the swine flu situation but my mother is contemplating not sending me to GYLC in August...sigh. I hope she still sends me. Do you think, if the situation gets worse, they'll cancel GYLC on the whole?

Hey Smile I am not going to this confrence (not old enough yet) but just an FYI, the swine flu thing has TOTALLY died down in the US. I don't think you guys should have a problem. If you think about it, in our WHOLE country, we've only had 3 deaths, and scientists have now said that the swine flu in the US is LESS deadly than the seasonal flu.

I seriously wouldn't worry about the Swine Flu! It actually started in 2004 in my state of Wisconsin! but at the time only one person had it! but then his pig on his farm got it and that pig was traveled around the country and now it affected other pigs which gave it to the humans! I still plan on going, its a trip of a lifetime for me and I am just going to wash my hands a lot! I hope you all can stll go!

Hey guys, I finally persuaded my parents to allow me for attending GYLC. Frankly from my personal view, swine flu is not as severe as others and media reported. Just think about it, the flu in US is mild and is well under control all over the world. I really don't think a pandemic will occur. So, I guess unless the GYLC is cancelled due to deteriorating situation, I am definitely still going for it.
Come on guys! Hope to see you there!Smile

the swine flu has not totally died down. i live in bayside, new york (kinda near fresh meadows where st francis prep is) and i have a bunch of friends who go to st francis prep and although that school is done with the swine flu, susan b. anthony (i.s.238) has it and that school is right around the corner of my cousins house. also, theres p.s.107 and some other school. i dont think anyone needs to worry about the swine flu because by the time you go to gylc, it'll most likely be completely over. if you want to, though, you can bring masks but i dnt think its necessary! enjoy your time and dont worry about the H1N1!

From what I've heard, the amount of people catching the swine flu has slowed down... but hasn't completly. We went over it in Alg II and the teacher said that scientist were afraid it would have an exponential growth rate... They also thought that the amount of people getting the flew would have slowed down to a stop weeks ago. I don't think anyone should be too worried about it though, as long as we stay clean.

Looks like I won't be showing up after all.. I had decided to go initially, but more and more cases just keep popping up all over and especially NYC; what with the Model UN conference and those kids that got it..

I agree with the people who argue that its curable, but with the high chance that you will get it (now with the pandemic which indicates how fast it is spreading), I don't think my family has the time and extra stuff to spare if I get it... you know, with the cash, the time, their quarantine time blah blah.. Plus I'll be sitting out of school for how long.

Argh, its just bad timing and a real throw away of money. We lost all the money we payed for this cause it only got worse after the cancellation date went by.

Oh well. Just an update.

Do you not have faith or belief in luck or anything like that....

what are the odds of contracting the disease.
Is it worth the loss of all that money?
-nope....
so go then!

You already paid ofr it so go and if u die- you would have had the best two weeks before you die! (where's your sense of humour?)

enjoy your self in whatever you do!
Enjoy your vacation...

The whole swine flu thing is totally over dramatized I had it for a week this past winter and it wasn't any worse than the regular flu... most of the deaths attributed to the swine flu were people that would probably have died of the regular flu anyways
