HEY THERE. I just chanced upon this today, yup I attended GYLC in from Aug 3 - 14, 2008. I have t say it was amazing (:
I'm glad I met all the friends I made. I'd suggest you create a Facebook group for your session so that people would be able t join it, I joined mine before I went so I got t know a couple of people before going there. It made me feel a lot better because there was someone I knew.
Anyway course wise, I didn't feel it was intellectually stimulating enough, but it was a good introduction to american and international politics, though I felt we shld have had more verbal sparring. But that's just me.
AND NYC wins DC, hands down. I loved NYC. It's an amazing place, just being in Times Square with fantastic friends from all over the world, I have to say it's a reaaaaally good feeling. What I loved most about GYLC was my LGM (Nigeria), they were AMAZING. And the various accents that permeate the surrounding air every conversation somehow just felt all too surreal, it's like you can't believe you're finally there, meeting people from halfway around the world (:
Okay, I think that's quite a bit from me, ask me questions if you need!
